Marina G.
Private tutor in Salinas, CA
Education
Sophomore Art or Art History major at California State University-Monterey Bay
Experience
I began tutoring as a sophomore in high school as a volunteer at an after school program in Oakland, held at the Cesar Chavez Community Center. While volunteering at the after school club, I also began privately tutoring two eight-year olds in my own neighborhood in Orinda, Ca. I was paid thirty dollars an hour for tutoring the children in Spanish, Math, and English. Recently, through the CSUMB service-learning program, I tutored and engaged with children at the Del Rey Woods Elementary After School Academy. My most valued and significant qualities as a tutor are my bilingual and intellectual skills. I am a strong critical thinker and thus, I am able to assist students in the development of their writing. I also lived in Mexico for one year and Spain for six months, and am therefore fluent in Spanish.
